If one home test is positive and another is negative, contact a health professional rather than deciding that the latest result settles it. A positive test usually indicates pregnancy. [1] Explain that you have conflicting results so the clinician can advise you about follow-up.
Put the two tests in order
Make a short note of the date and approximate time for each test. Include the brand if you have it, whether you followed its directions and whether its control indicator appeared. Say if you read either result later than the instructions allowed.
You do not need a perfect record to call. Tell the clinician what you know and which details you are unsure about. Avoid posting identifiable test photos or private health information publicly to get a vote on the result.
There may be more than one explanation
