Why can an ultrasound be too early to give a clear answer?

Give the clinician the dates you actually know

You can prepare the date of your last period if known, dates of pregnancy tests and the reason you are seeking care. If you are unsure of a date, say that. Do not change an estimate to match someone else's scan story.

Useful questions before the visit include:

• What are you hoping to learn from this scan?
• Based on my situation, when should I be evaluated?
• If it does not answer the question, who arranges follow-up?
• Which symptoms mean I should seek help sooner?

Tell the clinical team about symptoms when asking about timing. A scheduler cannot account for a concern you have not mentioned.

Requesting a scan is not reserving one
